While we can't precisely describe the design process behind these original checks, we can tell you that their soapy countenance isn't even their cleanest feature!

That honor belongs to the short-side perforation, which gives you superior leverage for a trouble-free tear. In other words, your completed checks will separate easily from the pad -- without ripping in the wrong place. Now that's what we call clean!
