Each spring our nation's capital draws nearly a million people to the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which commemorates the gift of friendship that the U.S. received from the city of Tokyo in 1912: a shipment of 3,020 cherry trees. But one detail that's often overlooked in the telling of this historic anecdote is the fact that Japan actually sent us two shipments of trees; the first one, regrettably, contained insect-infested, diseased trees that the Department of Agriculture ultimately had to destroy in the interest of protecting American growers. Despite the diplomatic setback, Japan extended further goodwill, sending a second shipment that contained only the healthiest grafted specimens, which were planted along the shore of Washington's Tidal Basin. To celebrate the showy Sakura, as cherry blossoms are called in Japan, we're pleased to offer these pretty Cherry Blossom Side Tear Checks, available exclusively from CheckAdvantage.
