We were thinking of a different photographic solution of yesteryear -- one used to correct scratched film negatives.

Budding photographers were once taught that a good way to fill those cracks was with a tiny dab of oil. Many tried petroleum jelly, but found it difficult to transfer an appropriately minute amount.

The solution? The photographer would rub a finger on the side of his or her nose and use that natural oil to fill crevices and other imperfections in film. Like we said -- it was a creative solution!
