Consider a few expressions from roller derby, for example.

A player who can score points is called a "jammer"; she wears a stretchy helmet cover emblazoned with a large white star. A skater in the position known as "pivot" also wears a nylon helmet cover; hers has a wide white stripe.

But what most captivates our imagination is that those helmet covers are called "panties," and if the pivot wants to trade places with the jammer, they must first engage in a "panty swap"!

Now that's a sports-specific term we never would have guessed. As for "rink rash," we bet you can figure that one out for yourself. Ouch!
